Overpaying for Carpet stains in an apartment
    Hello! Help!
My rental/leasing company is trying to charge me for the replacement of my previous apartments entire carpet. There were 5 ink stains in one room of the apartment. I have no problem paying for that one room, but they are insisting that I have to pay for the entire apartment. Please help me. I have found one section on my lease agreement that says that I am only liable for damage that I caused. The rest of the other carpet was in good condition and they had no complaints on it. Do I really have to pay the close to 400. For the replacement of the entire apartments carpet when only one part was damaged and really only that one needed to be replaced.

    Help. I'm in Southern Florida.

I think $400 is for one room - not the entire apt if they can still get the same carpet or one like it to match the remaining/unstained carpet.

The key here is whether there is one carpet or different ones. If you had the same carpet running throughout the unit, then I'm sorry, but they have a reight to replace the whole thing. There is no way for a new carpet to match the old, just wear and tear will make it look different. However, if the carpets are different in each room, then you shouldn't have to replace it all.

If your carpet was new when you moved in, and you leave before the normal replacement date, you are responsible for the carpet period. And they usually replace the whole apartment if its all the same material and color.

I will have to agree, I would have a hard time getting one room replaced for 400 dollars, Three or four rooms would be in the 1000's of dollars.
If they had someone that will install several rooms of carpet for 400 dollars, get their name and number for me, since I normally pay that much or more for one room.
