    Refundable security deposit?
My husband and I went to Georgia to find a house. When we found one we wrote them a check for the security deposit, and the application fee. They agent told us that he would work on the lease agreement the next day and have it emailed to us within 2 days. Well about a week went by and we didn't get anything via email but noticed the day after we viewed the house that our check had been cashed. We called and th agent told us that they had a really busy week and he would work on it tomorrow. Another week later we still hadn't gotten anything. So my husband and I decided on another house and asked for our security deposit back cause we never received the lease agreement on the first house. The agent told us that it didn't work like that. Are we entitled to get our security deposit back since we never received or signed a lease agreement? What do you think?

I think that if he is a licensed real estate agent and what you said occured/didnt occur is accurate, I would advise him in a written letter delivered to him personally of your intention to file a complaint with the real estate commission of your state. Put a time limit in your letter. Keep a copy, then file the complaint if he does not act.

PA non refundable deposit [ 1 Answers ]

My landlord is trying to charge me a non-refundable pet deposit. I read that it is illegal in PA to charge a non-refundable deposit. My original lease stated I was allowed a cat/dog no bigger than 40lbs. And there was no mention of a pet deposit or a pet fee per month. Thanks, Matt
