The gas motor on my weedeater became unstable in it's running. After trying to readjust the carb I noticed the gas line was cracked and leaking at the tank. So I have now replace the gas line, cap, and cleaned the filter in the gas tank. Also have disassembled the carb and cleaned out the gas intake screen. Soaked it in carb in cleaner and blew out all the orifices, then reassembled. It will only start now when I put some gas directly into the plug hole and runs for only a few seconds. Does not run long enough to adjust the carb. Tried opening the adjustment needle from 3/4 to 1 1/5 turns to no avail. Know it runs well when it gets gas - but what else needs checking?

Did you properly replace the clunker inside the tank? The clunker is weighted to keep the end of the fuel line down in all positions.

Yep, the in tank gas filter, which I cleaned and return to the tank, is weighted. Also can see the gas line is full of fuel to the carb. Thanks - ES

I don't know where but you have a air leak into your fuel line or the engine is starved for fuel. When you push the bulb 5x do you feel the resistance build up and see the fuel surging as you pump?

I put a brand new gas line on it and there are no bubbles appearing in the line. Does not have a push bulb at all. Agree it is starving for fuel but I have disassembled and cleaned the carb twice now. Gaskets all appear good but apparently does not create vacumn needed to pull gas into it.
