WE HAVE A CENTRAL AIR PUMP we had it set at 70 degree's well the fan was running but the line outside from the wall to the unit had ice on it like it was freezing up also no air was coming through the duct vents can anyone give me an answer or where to start? I was thinking it may need freon the motor outside and the line under the fan were frozen. Thanks for any responses

If you had ice on the pipes on the outside of the house you also had ice inside the coil box inside the house, in fact the ice was so solid that it would not let air go through the coil.
There are several reasons for this to happen and most of them are caused by not enough air going across the coil or being low on freon.

Here is something you should do if your unit still has ice one it, turn your thermostat to the off position and turn the inside fan to the on position, This will circulate air over the ice on the coil and eventually it will thaw all the ice. Then you need to take out the filter and make sure it is clean, replace if needed. Now turn off the fan and turn the AC to the on position. Feel at your return air grill and make sure that there is lots of air going into the inside unit. Now feel of the registers in the different rooms and make sure that there is air coming out of each one of them, If not open the damper. Now feel of the suction line at the outside unit, it is the larger of the two copper lines. It should be very cold and maybe should have some moisture on it but no frost. If it is not cold and there is frost then I would say that you are low on freon and should be checked out.
