I'm deprived of a green thumb
I need some advice on how to make plants grow, and how important is sun light. I planted some seeds w/ my sun in the dirt next to the side-walk up to our home... the don't require direct sunlight, but I think the one side that gets the most sunlight is growing and the other side is not. What to do? Should I buy new seeds?

Your green thumb is just hiding. I don't know what part of the country you're in or what you're planting... I live in NE Fla so I try to get things that can survive the weather. I haven't much green in my thumb so I wouldn't start with seeds. Get some small plant or flowers that are already "started." Most of the time the people at the plant shop can help. My experiences have been their more than happy to help. Let me know and good luck!

Let me start by saying that both of my thumbs are green as well as all of my fingers and toes!!

You don't say where you are, but every area has a different "starting" time of the year, they are called zones. So, I don't know what zone you are in.

Now, with all my greenness, I NEVER start with seeds outdoors. I always buy starters from my local nursery and am sure to note where they belong according to the light necessary. I have full sun where I plant my flowers, anything that requires shade or even partial shade will not survive there. So it is important to know what kind of sun you have where you are planting, as well as whether the plants are tolerant to that kind of sun.

Now, back to the seeds. I do use seeds, however I plant them indoors around February (for my zone this is perfect) and let them mature indoors. When planting time comes around (late April for me) then my seeds have matured enough to endure the days and nights outdoors.

Another reason I do not plant seeds out of doors is because of birds and other creatures who feed on flower seeds.

Just a few little green hints for you!!
