My request may sound somewhat obscure, but some 40 years ago, I remember a teacher reading a story to us about some children whose parents were killed (? In an air crash) the children raised themselves. One thing I do remember what that people in th village cooked things for the children, these they put into a straw filled box, which kept it warm for them - very strange I know - but it has stayed in my memory and it bugs me! As a child I suppose it appealed to me (Not to be orphaned obviously!) but the self-sufficient side of things. Any information you might have would be much appreciated. Thanks.:confused:
