    Lawnmower will not start
I was having to replace the blade adapter on my lawnmower as the old one would vibrate the blade loose. I tipped the lawnmower up on its side and struggled to get the old blade adapter off. After I got it off so I could go get a replacement , I thought to myself that I had heard somebody say something about not tilting the mower on its side for more than a moment or the oil can seep up through the rings that are designed to control air.

I now have my news blade adapter mounted and I cannot get the mower to start , I am afraid something with the oil while the mower was tilted is the cause.

The air filter is clean, I cannot get it to start with or without it on.

I added a little gas to the carb and it will not start

The plug looked good and I even tried a new one just to check

I finally removed the plug and pulled the rope many times 30 or more hoping it would get some of the oil out . I reinstalled the plug and still it will not start.

I have done this in 30 minute intervals in case I would have flooded the engine

I currently have the plug out so maybe the oil could dry up a little??

I will try this again after allowing it to sit some more.

I also tried some starting fluid -nothing

A couple of times it sounded as if it was going to start but never actually did. Maybe after pulling the rope without a plug in place and gradually the oil seeping back down it may eventually start

Any suggestions I have not tried?

The mower was running until I heard the blade loosening up then I turned it off

    Help!

When a blade comes loose you can shear a timing pin, it continued to run until you shut it off but is to far out of time to restart.

There is a cranckase vent tube that goes to the air cleaner and when you tip the mower with the carb on the down hill side oil will flow into air cleaner and through carb, doesn't cause any problem except a lot of smoke for a minute or it can saturate the air filter and make the mower not operate because lack of air.

If you are certain of the air filter (should have started without it) then look to the timing key or "flywheel key".
