Re-routing my main drain (3" PVC) ...curious what y'all think.

would like to do a simple 1/4" : foot drop but there are some things coming out of the wall I can't move (a/c, exhaust, etc). Any harm in putting a couple 90-deg elbows together and dropping it down 6-8", then resuming a normal 1/4" grade?

Could it possibly choke & clog due to lack of vent, or too steep a drop off?

This drop adjustment would be about 1/2 way along about a 30' run.

Hey Spazz,
You wish to put a dogleg in your drainage using two 90's? Bad Idea!
You're setting yourself up for future blockages. If there's no other way and if you have the room use 1/8th. Bends,( 45 drgree bends) to make the jog. 1/8th. Bends are best but if space won't allow the use of 1/8th bends go for long sweeps,(best) or short sweeps, but any bend with a larger radius then a 90 is better the your original plan. Good luck, Tom

No venting concerns? A friend says I need to vent all vertical drops.

Tell you friend he's wrong. Every fixture that has a trap has to be vented but not short offsets. Cheers, Tom

Since you're being so helpful, Speedball, I think I'll run a couple other ideas by you...

One plumber said the max distance you could go with PVC was 30', another said no problems. (I assume the former would be due to PSI concerns)

Also, I'm adding about three 90-deg turns to a run which currently has only two. I assume that if I use long sweeps and have about two cleanouts in the 45 linear feet, I will be OK.

Max distance to what from what? And what does PSI have to do with drainage?

Sounds good to me Spazz. I still say to avoid problems go with a 45 degree offset on your dogleg. Cheers, Tom
