    Expired Inspection Sticker
How do I get out of an expired inspection sticker ticket? It was given to me while my car was parked. It was for $200 plus a $25 processing fee! I got my care successfully inspected the next day. My court date is set for June.

    Thanks,
    TF

Wow - seems a bit steep to me. What state are you in?

Well you can throw yourself on the mercy of the judge showing that you got the sticker.

From a legal view point, to get out of it, you merely have to show that you had a valid sticker on the day of the ticket.

Generally, just show mail the ticket back with a copy of your inspection and that may do it. Expired reg, inspection are usually issued but not enforced if you immediately correct the problem.

Fr_Chuck, if the judge doesn't see it uktubby's way won't he also incur court costs?

I had a girlfriend who couldn't manage the time to get her car inspected. Funny thing was once she got a ticket, she managed to find the time to get it inspected the very next day.

I've gotten a couple of tickets for expired inspections. (I know, my bad!) It's been a while, but I seem to recall that they said something like "The fine is $X, but if you come to the courthouse within 48 hours with proof of inspection, then you will only be responsible for a $10 processing fee." Does yours have a similar statement in it?

I can't say about your area, but at least where I was a police officer, the fine was the same no matter if you went to court or not, the fine even without going to court had court costs figured in.

So at least where I worked it did not matter if you went to court or not, you did not havve to pay extra. And always had a chance of paying less.

I understand not every place may do it that way, but of course the only way to try and get it dismissed and not pay is to show up.
