    Garnishment of SSi benefits
I got some helpful advise the other day on what to do about a garnishment of SSI benefits... well I contacted the bank and the were very rude and snotty with me about the matter and told them I would be filing papers against them because the can be held liable for sending the funds to the creditor... she told me that under no circumstances can they be held liable because she is just doing her job and I didn't push it any further with her. I even sent her a copy of the information that I receive from here and it was completely ignored. I contacted an attorney about this matter and told him what I found out and he was not for sure about the information that I received. I am desperate here to get my money back, but, nobody seems to want to help me... right now because of the garnishment... I have no money what so ever to live on or even to pursue this any further... I guess us little guys are always left out in the cold. The other thought I had was about filing bankruptcy... is that an option also?

Stop direct deposit until you can straighten this out The bank is just following a court order after a judgement was entered against you. Did you get a civil summons concerning the debt?

There was a judgement against me 2 and a half years ago and I talked to the crediotor and told that I was on disability and making paymnts is going to be very hard... but since then I have not heard a word from them... don't even know how they got a hold of my checking acct... but even if they were going to start a garnishment... don't you need to be botified of this action so you can have a chance to do something about it?

Since the bank accept your direct deposit from ssi they are aware of this. Go speak to the president of the bank and inform him of this matter. The bank cannot break the law anymore than you can.

Have him review this matter and report this also to the state attorney in your county, you can Google the USC code and print it out.
