    Burning and discharge
Hi, please help me. I recently went to my local GUM clinic because I am getting a burning sensation when I pee and a clear, thick discharge. They took a urine sample and some swabs and sent the urine away to be checked. They checked it for Chlamydia and Gonnoreah, both came back negative. Whilst I was at the clinic, they gave me a single dose of antibiotics and told me that them would sort the problem out. 3 weeks on and I am still getting the same symptoms, the clinic did however tell me that I had Non Specific urethitis. The only kind of unprotected sex that I have ever had was anal.
I am also getting a sore anus, could this be related?
I have read on the internet that the main causes of NSU are Chlamydia and Gonnoreah but I don't have either of them so what could be causeing the symptoms, maybe its nothing to do with sexual intercause?

    Hi Junior GP,
It is really difficult to say what could be causing this, though there are two other possibilities that come to mind off-hand. You may have what is known as an "occult" prostate infection. In such a case, the infection can be relatively walled off and confined to the prostate, making it pretty well undetectable in the urine -- though it should be detectable in semen. A manual prostate exam should easily confirm or rule such out.
Another more remote possibility is a yeast infection. This would not be measurable by a urine test nor treatable by antibiotics -- in fact they may well serve to worsen such, particularly with longer term administration.
NSU can be caused by a vast array of different organisms and the cause is not always sexually related. Often the initial cause can not be determined. If you were the penetrative partner, unprotected anal intercourse could very likely be the instigating factor. Though, if the receptive partner, it would likely be far more difficult to determine if this is in fact the indirect source of your NSU. Either way, please use protection in the future as you otherwise expose yourself to fairly great risks either way.
    Take care.

I am having one heck of a time trying to figure out why, all of a sudden Nero will only write CDA files. Up until recently I have had no problem writing MP3s to CD in MP3 format. I have wasted many CDs while trying to find a solution. :-/
