    Adpoting a step child
Hello, my name is Marie. I am engaged to a man that has full custody of his daughter. Her birth mother signed over all rights to her. The birth mother has no visitation unless agreeded upon by mouth. Does anyone know how much trouble I would have to go through to adopt this little girl because I would be her step mother, and her father does not want her no near the birth mother

Well if the mother has absolutely no rights, or claim then it should not be so hard. But when you say she signed over all rights, does that mean to custody or as a parent. If it was just to custody, it will be a might harder.

Should not have any, depends on what paers were signed to sign rights away, if it allowed them to adopt, then nothing but if not, they may have her re-sign some papers.

If the bio mother is willing, as appears to be, then there shouldn't be any problem. If she already relinquished her parental rights, then it should be just a matter of presenting an adoption petititon to Family Court.

If the birth mother doesn't object and is willing to give consent, you'd have no trouble at all adopting her.

Stepparent adoptions are extremely commonplace, and usually very little problem provided the bio-parent doesn't object.
