    Catching a stray cat
We have fed a stray cat for about a year now and the other day when he came we noticed he was hurt. He is not putting any weight on one of his front paws, and its been like that for about two weeks. We would like to get him to the vet to see if there is anything they can do, but he won't let us get close to him. He'll come and sit by the porch and we get food and set it out in the grass. He'll watch from a distance for a while and then slowly come eat. When he is done, he leaves. If anyone has any advice on how to catch him, it would be very appreciated! Thanks so much.

This is the only thing I can think of:

    Ryan's Pet

Perhaps you can find a cat trap like that for cheaper somewhere else. Otherwise, I'm not sure what you personally can do, short of calling Animal Control and enlisting their help.

Live trap. You may be able to borrow one from a rescue or shelter. Put the food at the end of it, and put it in the normal place. You may want to try this a few days without it being set to trigger, so that he gets used to it. Or you may want to set it the first day, in case you only have the one shot.

And when you take him to the vet, see if you can get him neutered as well. That way there will be fewer stray kittens born.

Yes, give your animal control a call they will have some traps to use. Or most hardware stores have them if you want to buy one.
