Changing Visa Type from H1B to L1
    Hi

My employer wants to change my Visa Type from H1B to L1.
Please tell me, if he can do it without my consent or my consent is essential.

It is very important for me to know.
    Please give the timely advice.

    Thanks

I believe if he is sponsoring the visa he can withdraw his support for one type and request another. I'm not sure if it would require your consent for the second one as you've basically given your consent for the first one. If you refused he could just withdraw his support for the initial visa and you would be notified of how much time you had to get another visa or leave the country. I would talk with your employer and find out why he wants to change it... often they have to provide financial documentation along with sponsoring you. Maybe talking to him would allow you to come up with other options for your visa status. My ex husband went through several types of visa's before eventually becoming a citizen. Good luck.

Thanks a lot for your prompt reply.

Please tell me one more thing,

If my employer changes my Visa status to L1 from H1,
Can I transfer the same old H1 to some other employer?

Or, I will need to get a new H1B filed?

    Please reply ASAP.

    Thanks
    Rasik

I'm not absolutely positive however I believe your new employer would have to agree to sponsor you. The past employer's sponsorship would be withdrawn and the visa status would be revoked. Again, this is not something I am absolutely positive about... you may want to contact immigration or an attorney who could be more specific. Good luck.

    Rasik,

Have your gotten your H1 Visa converted to L1 ?

If yes, what is the process? Did you have to go back to your home country for either processing or stamping? If so, did you have to stay in your home country for some time?

I need to know these details ASAP.

    Can you please help?

    Thanks,
    Nina
