Need Autopsy Records of Father: Wrongul Death
My father worked for the "Fish and Game Department" in the early 1960's as a Bush Pilot. A few months after his "complete physical, for which he passed with flying colors" (38 years old) he came up missing while counting caribou in Alaska, and was found after several days, crashed on the side of a mountain; leaving a wife and four children. My mother was denied workman's compensation and was forced to leave the home they provided us ~ years later, while asking my mother some questions surrounding his death, I learned of all the denials of benefits from Alaska. Alaska said his death was caused from a heart attack so denied ALL benefits. I started doing some investigation, and found out that the bush plane that my father was piloting, was known to "stall and nose dive" and a year later was banned from all the pilots.
I have tried to get ahold of his autopsy, with no luck.
Can anyone out there give me some clues of how to get some answers? I have been able to get ahold of a my dad's supervisor and a couple of other men, and they BELIEVED from the beginning that the crash was due to the plane's mechanics... one of the men, actually being at the crash site when my dad was found.
I need help to prove that my dad was healthy. The state of Alaska threw my mother and four young children to the curb, and it's time to clear things up.
Look forward to hearing from someone.

Is there any way for you to find out what medical examiners office in Alaska did the autopsy? If you can, that is the place you need to call. As a family member they have to allow you to see it. They also have to keep records of it. If they no longer have it there at that office they should have an archive office in the area. Your trying to go all the way back to the 60's so it may take some digging on your part. I am quite sure that the coroner that actually performed the autopsy doesn't work there anymore.

With a crash, the FFA would do an investigation of the plane crash. That would be where you should start first.

I already have the investigation report; the report concludes that "cause of accident" was due to pilot error due to heart attack. I have records from the FAA and also from Workman's Compensation. The problem is everyone is happy to give me investigative reports, but none will produe the autopsy report. FAA and Workman's comp. say that when they got to the crash area, that my dad was "clutching his heart"; what my dad's supervisor said was that his hands were on the steering apparatus, and his head was indented in the dash, and he felt "that" was the cause of death. This was the third or fourth death in this type of plane, and all the Bush Pilots all had problems with this plane (stall and dive) and from that moment, REFUSED to use this plane again.
What I need is an autopsy report, and 'no one seems to have one'.
Thanks for your answer.

Hello "kanicky73",
Yes, I did contact them and they cannot "find" the autopsy, which makes me very suspicious of them and the other government officials that I have contacted. Being my father was an "Alaskan State Trooper", I find it hard to understand that his autopsy report is not available. My mother hired an attorney in Fairbanks (with cash donations from other troopers) to fight their "conclusion" of heart attack, and the coroner's report supposedly said he had a heart condition for many years previous to his death ~ does not make sense when he just had a thorough yearly physical and came up "shining". I also believe this report should be in the court records, for which I ordered, and "was not included". Again, his supervisor and co-troopers, all believed his death was because of mechanical problems with the plane he was in; for which, again, I have documentation.

That is very strange! There most definetely should be an autopsy report. If there isn't one, then someone is trying to hide something. If an autopsy was performed there has to be a report. When you called them and they told you that they can not "find" the report. Did you question them directly on why they conveniently can not find it? I don't know how much money you want to put into this, but you may want to go as far as hiring a private investigator to get the answers. Sometimes getting in someone's face and forcing them to be accountable is a very good strategy. Personally if it were me, I would have crawled down someone's throat for an explanation as to why there is not an autopsy report. I find this kind of stuff extremely interesting and its this area that I shine in. If there is anything I can help you with, please let me know! I will do what I can. Send me an email and let me know if you need any assistance!

Hello mowen:
If you're stumped, I think you need the services of a private investigator. Or, put kanicky on the case!

Thanks excon! I love this kind of stuff. Makes me regret not going to school for it. I actually did the same kind of "digging" so to speak for my niece. Her father was supposedly "drowned", but we all knew it was his girlfriend who did it. I took the bull by the horns, contacted the coroners office and slue of other things and we got to the bottom of it! So bring it on!

The statute of limitations for personal injury and workman's comp has long expired (6 years). However, if you can prove fraud or evidence of a government cover-up you would still have a avenue to pursue.

I agree that something isn't right here and is definetely worth looking into! Many different individuals have a lot of explaining to do! Tampering with or destroying documents such as an autopsy report is a serious offense!

excon LOL, the older I get the move I'm leaning in your direction. Uncle Sam is rarely our friend when it comes to accepting responsiblilty for screw ups. Look what they did with Tillman's death in Iraq.
