I have to say drinking actually as well. I went cold turkey with both of them (not at the same time! ).
Haven't been tempted by ciggies for a looong time, just the smell of them now is awful!
The alcohol is different but I'm there (or there abouts anyhoo).

My youngest son started it all. While I was doing laundry, he decided it would be fun to ride the clothes basket down a flight of stairs. I heard the WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE THEN THUMP THUMP THUMP as he went down the stairs. My heart was in my throat when I heard that. It was almost as bad as hearing your little cherub saying uh oh.
From there the ride became the goddess ride. I forget where wewere in this thread when we talked about it.
It just took off fromthere. It became our incentive to stay on the top branch. And for the new people joining us to climb to the top branch.I hope that explains it for you. After a while it takes on a meaning all it's own.

I wish you the best... I am also in the process of quitting... but, I would not beable to even attempt it without the patch and gum... it does help a lot if you have been a long time smoker... also my Dr gave a new prescription of a medication that has been very helpful for quitting smoking it called "CHANTIX"... hope this helps.
Hugs for every minute not smoking!!

As I am only three days old I think simplicity for someone searching the site would be best. The support tree seems to suggest an area where people can get some kind of sympathy back to them for their plight, whatever that may be and the tree suggests something sturdy and strong and growing. I am definitely rooting for that one (pardon the pun) - MARIA

Yeah... because THAT will work for people with kids and careers.
I'm a proud member of NORML, but suggesting another form of smoking to people trying to cut it completely out of their lives isn't a very good suggestion, Joey.

This is sort of a similar question to the one I asked about wine and spirits. I know that there are some churches that prohibit smoking and dancing (not necessarily both at the same time lol).
