    Gmat Data Sufficiency section !
    GMAT DATA SUFFICIENCY QUESTION:

    A company bought desks of $150 and chairs of $50. Can it buy 40 desks?
    a) The total cost of the purchases was $500
    b) It bought fewer than 20 chairs.

    Can it buy 40 desks? No.
    The budget is $500 but to buy 40 desks would require $6000.

    I think the answer you're looking for is that answer A alone is sufficient to determine the answer. B doesn't help. If the budget is less than $6000 then we don't need any additional info to know that they can't buy 40 desks.
