    I have reviewed passport application and it doesn't ask about convictions at all. (I'm applying for mine, too.) There isn't anything about it in the FAQs on the State Dept website, either.

    I would imagine as long as the person in question isn't on probation there will be no problem.

    I agree with the answer above.

    And, the answer is yes, in the United States you can get a passport. But, whether you can enter another country or not, because of the nature of the crime committed and how long ago you were convicted, may make a difference as to whether you can enter the other country now or possibly in the future. I would check on the laws of the country or countries that you want to enter. One prime example would be people who have been convicted of a sex offense.
