Repub Rep from Texas has served in Congress since 1997 . She is 81 years old.

But she hadn't voted in the House since July 24. She disappeared .

She has been found.
She's been living in a dementia care facility after having been found wandering lost and confused in her district.

The Dallas Express attempted to reach her district and D.C. offices but calls went directly to voicemail where a recorded message from Congresswoman Granger plays.
“I am sorry we are unable to answer your phone right now. We are really glad you called us. Please leave your name, phone number and a brief message and someone in our office will call you back as soon as possible,” the recorded message says.

We then visited her office in person hoping to understand how Congresswoman Granger planned to vote on the continuing resolution this afternoon. Upon arrival, we found the door locked, front door glass window covered, no one inside, and no sign of the office continuing to be occupied.

Yeah she had packed up . She was going to retire anyway . So why the deception that deprived her constituents of representation ?

The framers never meant public service to be a lifetime position (except judges and I question the wisdom of that also) The Presidency was term limited and there is no reason that the legislature and judiciary shouldn't be.


This is something GOP leadership has to answer. There is NO WAY they did not know about her health . If we condemn the coverup of Clueless Joe's health then we also must condemn this deception.

She is not alone. Yertle the turtle Mitch McConnell have taken dives and stands at the podium appearing to be stroke dumbfounded. Madam Mim has disappeared after reports she had emergency hip replacement .

If we want geezers having positions in government let them serve in ceremonial ones like the Brit House of Lords.

The Roman republic lasted for 500 years from 509 B.C. until Emperor Augustus in 27 B.C. One of the reasons they lasted so long is because they term limited every elected official. Even dictators had term limits .

The dictator's term was set at six months, although he customarily laid down his powers as soon as the crisis passed.

Our founders knew this fact . They studied the history of all the republics before writing the Constitution.
Before the Constitution ;the Articles of Confederation had term limits.

No State shall be represented in Congress by less than two, nor by more than seven Members; and no person shall be capable of being delegate for more than three years, in any term of six years; nor shall any person, being a delegate, be capable of holding any office under the united states, for which he, or another for his benefit receives any salary, fees or emolument of any kind.

They got many things right .But the lack of term limits is the very reason that the US is in peril .
Why the oversight ?
The founders never envisioned the governance was a full time job. Most of them were farmers . They met for half the year and then went home to manage their farms . Others had businesses or law practices to attend to . They envisioned public service as practiced by Cincinnatus .When called to serve he did. Then he gave up power and went home . Twice he gave up retirement when the Republic was in crisis .

There was not much to do in the early republic of the US. State governance ;especially states like Va, Penn, and NY were arguably more influential and the more appealing destination for ambitious politicians.
Even the 1st Chief Justice of SCOTUS ,John Jay, gave up his position to become Guv of NY . When nominated again he declined .

They never imagined a Schmuck Shumer ;Yertle the Turtle ;Madam Mim would hold onto power and make the government their career .

I used to think the remedy was the people's power to vote them out . But that is an illusion. The incumbency rate is well over 90% . And as their time in office is extended ,so becomes their power and personal wealth. Now I believe for the sake of the nation; not only should term limits be in the Constitution ;but there should also be recall . As you know ; impeachment is a joke. Not only has no President been removed from office ;but now impeachment is worn like a badge of honor.

Congress was able to term limit the Presidency after FDR died in office in his 4th 4 year term. But what are the chances of them amending the Constitution to term limit themselves ?

Are the people represented anymore ? Not if you look at the SAVE Act as an example. You look at the polling . It is undeniable. There is no current issue that the majority of Americans agree more than the need to restrict voting to citizens ;and they should have ID to prove it . Even the lib compliant press admits it .

And yet ;a bill that more than 80% of the people support cannot even get a vote in the Senate .

But here it is ,the SAVE Act is stuck in Congress held up by our "representatives " including a hand full of life time deep state Repubs who have been in the Senate for more than 2 decades each. These include Yertle (or maybe it is his corpse )who has been there since 1985 :Lisa Murkowski (23 years) who is a legacy Senator . Her father was Senator for Alaska for 20 years .Then he ran for Guv while still in the Senate . He won the Guv race ;resigned from the Senate and appointed Lisa as his replacement . Susan Collins of Maine(29 years in office) is playing a game . She declares to support the SAVE Act but won't vote to remove a filibuster to take it to the Senate floor.
Bottom line 2 of the 3 branches of the Federal Government are no longer serving at the will of the people. Meanwhile all of them are feeding at the trough ;accumulating wealth and not serving their constituents .
The republic will not last another 250 years under these conditions.

Remarkably the Dem argument against needing voter ID is that Dems are too stupid to get the ID needed . They have used this a number of times to explain why it is unfair to require minorities and women to produce proof of eligibility to vote.

However the rhetoric has reached beyond absurdity .

On a Jim Clyburn podcast , the Dem Guv of California ;who is a leading Dem contender for their 2028 Presidential nomination ;said that even he was too stupid to get a birth certificate.

“You've got to find your birth certificate. I have no clue where mine is."

For a day or so they were making an equally absurd comment that the fee for obtaining ID amounted to a poll tax. I'd say it is more of an inconvenience and an expense . If I have to drive to my polling place I have to have a car and pay for gas -maintenance -insurance etc. I do not consider that expense a poll tax. Same if I take a cab -bus -Uber .If I want to vote by mail I have to get stamps . That is not a poll tax.

The courts have ruled that such expenses are amply justified to ensure the integrity of the franchise.

In an Indiana case the majority opinion was written by on again off again lib Justice John Paul Stevens.

The constitution has majority vote for everything except impeachment convictions ;treaties ,and amendments . The filibuster is a tool that is used by the minority party to obstruct the duly elected majority party .

There are already checks and balances in the Constitution. For Congress to pass or change laws it needs the majority from both houses of Congress and a Presidential signature ;along with the court's ultimate decisions on the constitutionality of the law .

Congress is an ineffective institution if every vote needs a super majority to proceed.
