The retaining Jessica Tisch may be a head fake. He appointed Alex Vitale to head his transition team. Vitale is a sociology professor at Brooklyn College who wrote a book called 'The end of Policing ' . In it he argues that policing should be replaced by decriminalization or with non-law enforcement approaches, depending on the crime.
The End of Policing - Wikipedia

Chapter 1 offers a narrative that claims that the police are not here to offer protection to the public. This perspective is presented through the history and basis of public policing in the USA. Emphasis is placed on the darker side of the policing in larger cities and in the Southern states and focuses on labour disputes and slave patrols. The chapter links foreign policy in the USA during the period 1962–1974, which involved federal agencies training police in counterinsurgency tactics in a number of developing and post-conflict nations to the professionalization and alleged militarization of modern police and policing. The remaining chapters discuss the social problems of drug use, street gangs, border patrol, prostitution, homelessness, mental illness, and misbehaving adolescents, how they have been criminalized, and why there is a need to remove the police from the development of alternatives to their solution.

Guv Kathy Hochul has succumbed to the power of Mancommie. She will now put the state in the hock for all of his bad ideas .

She's not calling it a tax on the rich . She doesn't want them pulling stakes and leaving. Instead she will jack up taxes on corporations (who could possibly be opposed to sticking it the corporations ?)

“I’m not raising income taxes because I believe that we want to make sure that New York is more affordable for everybody and I want people who are successful to keep creating the jobs and investing here,” she said in an interview with Fox 5 on Wednesday.
Everything else seems to be on the table, though.
“We have to look at other revenue sources to fund,”
Hochul edges toward tax hikes after Mamdani win - POLITICO

But as we know; corporations can pull up stakes and move too . Also corporations have the ability to pass on taxes as cost of doing business in their prices .
Effectively it is the poor and middle class who end up footing the bill. Liberals socialists communists are always very generous when someone else pays for it .

His term is going to be fun.

The reason that NYC does not resemble the street of San Fran ;Portland and LA is because Eric Adams made it a policy to dismantle homeless street encampments and force them into shelters .

Mayor Adams’ homeless encampment sweeps reached new high last fall | WNYC News | WNYC

Mancommie plans to end the program.

Mamdani did not offer new details about how he plans to respond to those concerns once the sweeps end. He acknowledged the challenge but said housing access must remain the city’s priority.
Zohran Mamdani to end NYC homeless encampment sweeps

He will not solve the housing crisis . He instead will allow the encampments to be a permanent symbol of the failed NYC governance.

Mancommie's term got off to a great start yesterday . Socialism at it's finest........ supporters freezing ;penned in with no food or bathroom facilities while he droned on about how he is a proud "democratic socialist ".

“It’s not exactly what I was expecting,” said Brooklyn resident Shane Turner, 30. “I was expecting food and music.”

umm get used to it . Freebies are never free

Mancommie may already have the line of the year

"We will replace the frigidity of rugged individualism with the warmth of collectivism."

This is what the warmth of collectivism looks like

Mancommie is not alone . He joins a list of previous mayors who with good intentions promised ;if not utopia; to "fix" the problems of the city and to remake it in their image.
Does he not think that things like rent control have not been tried before ?

    Mancommie's new housing czar ......

    “Seize private property!”

"Private property including and kind of ESPECIALLY homeownership is a weapon of white supremacy masquerading as ‘wealth building’ public policy."

"for centuries, we’ve really treated property as an individualized good and not a collective good" and that in the future we will transition to treating it as a collective good under a model of "shared equity."
