TDS has a new name
Trump Derangement Syndrome is not officially a clinical diagnosis. But it is real according to Jonathan Alpert ;a psychotherapist by trade and author of the upcoming book 'Therapy Nation: How America Got Hooked on Therapy and Why It's Left Us More Anxious and Divided' .
He doesn't call it TDS. His name for it is 'obsessive political preoccupation' . You see ;it is not Trump haters . It is anyone who has an 'obsessive-compulsive spectrum presentation in which a political figure becomes the focal point for intrusive thoughts, heightened arousal and compulsive monitoring.'......."What once looked like outrage now presents as a fixation that distorts perception and consumes attention." What other political figure invokes that type of reaction ?
What makes obsessive political preoccupation distinct is its collective reinforcement: Social media, partisan news outlets and aspects of modern therapy have turned emotional validation into moral virtue. Each act of outrage delivers short-term relief that reinforces the cycle, maintaining the compulsion rather than resolving it. At its core, it isn’t much different from other OCD-like presentations I see in my practice.
The term “Trump derangement syndrome” emerged as a tongue-in-cheek partisan label. The joke obscured the psychological reality in which a political figure becomes a symbolic stand-in for threat and loss of control.
For many Americans, what began as a stress response has become a chronic state of hyperarousal and vigilance. In 2016 the reaction was acute: disbelief, anger, panic. By 2020 it had hardened into identity. Now it has become a way of life. During the 2024 campaign and into 2025, many patients have spoken with fatalistic dread about Mr. Trump’s continuing presence at the center of national life. Even hearing his name can trigger a physiological response. They aren’t reacting to Mr. Trump the man but to Trump the symbol—the embodiment of chaos, threat and loss of control.

Let me nominate Maryland Rep Jamie Raskin for a lobotomy . He has 'obsessive political preoccupation' aka TDS big time. As you recall he was part of the Jan 6 Kangaroo Court and led the 2nd Trump impeachment effort for the Dems.as the Senate impeachment manager and primary author of the articles of impeaachment
2016 he attempted an obstruction of the certification process by objecting to the certification of Trump His full TDS was on display when in January at a Dem retreat he brought in social psychologists to speak to the House Judiciary Committee. If someone you think is dumb consistently outsmarts those you think are smart then maybe you need to change the premise . When a used car is sold the buyer never really knows if it is a lemon .The seller always knows .Trump sold the Dems a lemon.
First Trump campaigned on releasing the Epstein files . Then he did a 180 and opposed their release and said there is nothing there and calling the whole thing a Dem witch hunt . TDS being what it is ;the Dems grabbed the bait hook line and sinker and concluded Trump was hiding something ,never considering that if there was something to implicate him ;the Emperor or Clueless Joes would've already locked him up. Now Trump says 'I don't care .....release them ' ,and the Dems can't possibly change course now . There may be some Repub collateral damage ... but I find it hard to believe there is anything of substance against Trump. We already have read partial files and the ones recently release . The worse so far is some stupid comment by Epstein's brother about Trump blowing Bubba ( Dems were quick to point out that he did not mean Bubba Clintoon. ) But new details have some prominent Dems running for cover . Why does it take an act of Congress to force the Trump DOJ to release all the Epstein files ?
Guaranteed there is some loop hole to prevent the total release . 1. The law the President signed calls for all UNCLASSIFIED files to be released 2. Trump ordered Pam Bondi to investigate Dem links to Epstein which will probably tie up more of them as part of an ongoing investigation.
