The Western political left is actually in a weak position. They need the Trump administration to carry the ball in eastern Europe, the Red Sea and Western Pacific. Part of their anti Israelism is performative.

The Left have no viable alternatives. No viable Palestinian state, no alternative to NATO, no way to keep the Red Sea open, no Indo Pacific fleet. What they do have is a lot of talking heads. So they'll use that.

Trump is making a huge mistake if he continues with this foolish proposal about Article 5 like security guarantees .

Obama/Hillary and the war party have craved such a plan since Hillary lost to Trump in 2016 . (I do wish Trump was better at explaining this . His simple comment about "Russia Russia Russia " during the brief statements by him and Putin in Alaska do not adequately explain the treachery of them. )

I can guarantee that the Euro-weinies would not be rushing to DC if Trump through Witkoff had not floated it .

They were in a panic that Trump was meeting with Putin and he gave them a lifeline

.The hard truth is that if the war continues as is then Russia in a short time frame will ultimately achieve it' s goal of capturing the Russian dominated eastern provinces of Ukraine
Putin's opening salvo is to stop the killing while gaining the ground it desires

The Western forever war party wants the war to continue.
The problem is that Ukraine is running out of people to feed into the grinder. But if they can give security guarantees (read US troops to the front and for show a couple of Polish German and French platoons ) then they can keep the war going for years .
Ukraine joining NATO would be ideal for them .

But short of that ; this deal will do. It drags the only NATO nation that matters into a shooting war. (and don't think for a second they have given up the idea of Ukraine admission. In this case it would happen through a fait accompli ) .
Bottom line is this move would drag the US into a larger war with Russia with Obama and Hillary cheering from the sidelines. Don't believe Hillary for one second that she wants peace in Ukraine.

She exposed her true intent with this comment

The Euro leaders and Zelensky were orgasmic over the meeting yesterday . That is not good news . They really think the US will back security guarantees with muscle.

When a Clintonoid like Mark Penn praises it you have to have your guard up.
