    Reopening the Rock
Rumor has it that Trump got the idea of reopening Alcatraz as a Max security prison after he watched 'Escape from Alcatraz ' . I don't know if that is true or not.

What i do know is that there was a reason it was closed down after a few short decades .(open 1934 -1963)

The truth is that it is expensive to have to transport supplies ;prisoners and staff to and from the island by boat. I am not as sure that it is as inescapable as it was given the technology that was not available then . But that is besides the point.

It would be a massive and expensive undertaking to renovate and upgrade the prison that now serves as a tourist site run by the National Park Service. ($53.25 for a 3 hour tour) .

It would also be redundant . The Bureau of Prisons already has an inescapable Super Max Prison in Colorado that no one has escaped from. ADX Florence is 'the Alcatraz of the Rockies '

Currently the BOP has difficulty staffing the Federal system as it is .

But maybe with Trump's new interest in Hollywood's viability he can get Clint Eastwood to star in a movie about ADX Florence.
