Re-arrange the world It's dying, to get better Politicians sit yourself down, There's nothing for you here Won't you please come to Chicago For a ride (Chicago by Graham Nash) This is intended as an open posting for the Dem convention scheduled to start next week. There the immaculation of Kam the Sham will be celebrated (she has already officially been nominated by virtual crowning ) . It promises to be a progressive love fest . The problem is that there are still some semi-traditional Dems running for office in states that don't rush to support progressives . Senators Sherrod Brown of Ohio ;Jon Tester of Montana ;and Jacky Rosen of Nevada have opted out of the convention. I'm sure there are others ;but these 3 stand out. The Senate is up for grabs . I wonder how many Dems running for office are planning on grabbing onto Kam's coat tails . Trump won both Ohio and Montana in 2020 . Clueless Joe won Nevada in a nail biting 3 % I will be curious to see how the Dems handle to split in their party between their Jewish constituency and their very aggressive antisemite wing. As you know ;Chi-town is a generally lawless town where the Dems love to riot. |

as I recall ;Chi-town has some of the toughest gun laws in the country. One of the highest rates of gun violence and not a gun shop or civilian gun ranges to be found in the city. Illinois is only state with no provision to let private citizens carry guns in public.
Seems to me that these strict gun laws only prevent law abiding citizens from arming themselves . |

So let's say you live near the United Center of the McCormick Place in Chi-town and want to get to your home during the convention. Guess what ;you need to have a valid photo ID !!
If You Live In Chicago
Allow extra time for travel during the week of the convention, especially by car. If you live near the United Center or McCormick Place, some roads will be closed to cars and pedestrians from August 16-23, while other roads will be closed just to cars. The closed roads will also be closed to ride-hail cars, car services and paratransit. On this page are the maps, a list of streets that will be closed and a written description of the closed areas. You will still be able to go in and out of your home, and people will be able to come in as long as they have photo identification. If you do not have a photo ID, you can make an appointment to get a Chicago CityKey at no charge: To get into a Kam campaign event you need to produce a photo ID
Entry will be limited to people with confirmed RSVPs who have a matching government-issued photo ID.
Remember when Kam thought photo ID was racist ?
But change cannot wait until then. Republicans are once again doing everything in their power to suppress and attack the voting rights of people of color. They are deploying suppressive voter ID laws, racial gerrymandering, voter roll purges, precinct closures and reduced early-voting days — all of which have been laser-targeted toward communities of color

I'm sure the irony escapes them. The Dems have built an impenetrable fence "wall" surrounding their convention center . A photo ID is required to enter ....not just for attendees ;but for anyone who wants to enter the security perimeter even if they live in the area.

Chi-town businesses are boarding up their shops as if they anticipate a hurricane .....or maybe a riot.
They expect 100,000 mostly peaceful demonstrators to converge on the town . Now this is going be Dem on Dem action . But Repubs should take note . If they can mobilize 100,000 mostly peaceful demonstrators to protest Dems ,what happens when they join to protest in red cities or if Trump wins ? Perhaps Chi-town is the perfect place to demonstrate to the nation ;progressive liberal policies on display. The protesters breached the fence a few times .The Chi-town cops gave them appropriate therapeutic back massages before their arrest. Those arrested know they will be forgiven.

Observation on CNN by Scott Jennings after the speeches last night
The gap that I see in all these speeches -- as good as they were -- [Kamala Harris] is in the White House right now.
Democrats have controlled the White House for 12 of the last 16 years, and for all of the talk about division and the problems in the country, and people are hurting, Democrats have mostly controlled this country. Trump had it four four, the Obamas and Biden had it for the rest of the time, and somehow, it’s still all Trump’s fault, and somehow, she hasn’t been at the center of it. To me, that is the glaring hole in this campaign that hasn’t yet been solved at the convention. How do you explain all of the problems that will be solved by the person who is currently in there for the last 3.5 years and who is supposed to be already working on solving it? |
