Imagine that ! A government can be shut down without it being considered the end of civilization.

Today French President Emmanual Macron dissolved the French Parliament and scheduled new elections for June30- July 7 .
This comes in the wake of the EU elections where the right romped .

The leading party was France's own National Rally party that took twice as many seats as Macron's . The National party is identified with Marine LePen although the party is led by Jordan Bardella.

Marine Le Pen’s anti-immigration, nationalist party is estimated to get around 31-32% of the votes, more than twice the score of Macron’s Renaissance party that is projected to reach around 15%.
Voters across 27 nations have voted over the past week to select 720 members of the European Parliament, who will serve over the next five years. Their first main role with be to approve or reject the main candidate for Europe’s top job: president of the European Commission.

And it is not just in France . Countries across Europe are electing conservatives ......or what the compliant press is calling "far right " representatives.

This is the "far right "

    end illegal immigration
    put violent criminals in jail

be strong patriotic put country first /sovereignty
    support liberty and constitutional rights
    limit government cut unnecessary regulations
    oppose ESG DEI support meritocracy
    support energy independence
fiscal responsibility for the future of the children
bans exploiting children including sex organ mutilation .

I'm sure there are more. Back in the day this would've been call common sense. Now it is called right wing radical .

In England the Reform Party has overtaken Sunak's Tories in polling. Labour still has the clear edge. But conservatism is moving from traditional to populist in the UK too.

While we breathlessly (not) await tonight's debate between Trump and Clueless Joe ;the Brits watched PM Rishi Sunak and Labour party leader Keir Starmer go head to head . Immigration is a big issue on the other side of the pond. Sunak said Starmer is not being honest with the people on issues like immigration and other issues. Starmer said Sunak is and out of touch elitist.

The scandals over there seem pretty tame and lame. Some govenment officials bet on when Sunak would call elections. Compared to the various member of Congress who have pocket lined in the market using insider trading ,we are talking chump change .

In Canada a long time Liberal seat in Parliament fell to a conservative.

The Liberals had held Toronto-St. Paul’s since 1993

Losing in Canada’s largest city, a traditional Liberal stronghold, does not bode well for Trudeau ahead of the election expected in the fall of 2025.

Iran will hold elections for President to replace Ebrahim Raisi who died in a helicopter crash. It is a sham election. The Ayatollah will decide who is President . It is likely to be the Ayatollah's protege Massoud Pezeshkian ;who the compliant press is labelling a "moderate " ;or Revolutionary Guard member Saeed Jalili..

The National Rally won the 1st round of the French elections. Now the other parties are trying to develop a coalition to stop them. In some cases candidates from Marcon's party or the left leaning parties will bow out to more radical lefties if they believe the leftists can win against the National party.

As predicted ;the Labour party won in a landslide. Not only did the Tories loose ;but other smaller parties also whittled away at support from both major parties. The Tories resembling the RINO Repubs were plagued by infighting before the elections. Now they have formed a circular firing squad. Since Brexit they have had an identity crisis being neither really conservative or populist .

Their loss appears to be further proof that it is a futile effort to out lib a liberal .

Iranians go to the polls today in a run off of their sham elections .

Or should I say "some Iranians " . The first round the people voted by staying home. 60% abstained . The runoff is between so called "moderate " Massoud Pezeshkian ;and "hardliner" Saeed Jalili .Both are Ayatollah Khamani poodles.

Speaking of elections, the election of a conservative governor in Louisiana resulted in the following positives.

Here a just some of the laws passed and signed by Landry that return a measure of sanity to living in Louisiana:

    • $3 billion cut from the state budget
    • Universal school choice
    • Constitutional carry
    • A ban on vaccine mandates
    • A ban on ranked choice voting
    • A ban on sanctuary cities
    • State police can now arrest illegal immigrants

Other improvements made to the Bayou State include:

Public (read government) schools are forbidden to teach DEI (Diversity Equity Inclusion) indoctrination, sexual orientation, and gender identity.

Teachers must also use pronouns that match the sex on a student’s birth certificate.

Local governments are banned from passing firearms restrictions exceeding state law.

Protesters demonstrating outside private residences can be fined.

Liability is limited for people in fear of their lives when rioters illegally block a road.

Major expansion of RICO and racketeering law applied to organized riots.

Two abortion-inducing drugs will be classified as controlled substances.

Men pretending to be women, and vice versa, are banned from using facilities that do not match their birth certificate sex.

Against expectations the French decided against handing control to National Rally . It went from 1st to 3rd place in the second round of elections. A leftist coalition won most of the seats ...............but not enough for a majority ) . (Suspicions am I )

Days away from the Paris Olympics ;a chaotic political situation has emerged . Should make for some hot times on the streets of Paris.

35 year old French PM Gabriel Attal of the of the "Renaissance party" headed by Macron will resign today after a 5 month term . Although they claim to be centrists ;they are in fact progressive globalists . Their rhetoric mirrors Bubba's and Tony Blair's "3rd way" canard . Leftist trojan horses masking themselves as practical centrists .

'The New Popular Front' — an alliance of five far left parties ......France Unbowed .....Socialists...French Communist Party .... greens — gained the most seats .

Marcon's coalition of fake centrist ‘Together’ bloc came in second

I generally approve of most of the Louisiana changes. Not sure how I feel about state laws about controlled substances being different from Federal law. Under the Constitution's supremacy clause , Federal law supersedes state laws.

State laws don't seem to me to be effective if crossing state lines is all it takes to get around the law to purchase RU-486.

You see it with the hodgepodge of state marijuana laws. A resident of one state where it is legal can cross state lines and get arrested for possession. Federally it is still a schedule 1 illegal drug( no approved medical use and high chance of addiction) meaning that any time the Feds choose they could go into a state and charge dispensaries which could land them in jail.

Would this be an occasion where the feds need to back out of the situation concerning weed and let the various states do their own things?

I don't think so. The framers did not completely rule out national laws for a good reason. I get some libertarians believe that there should be no role for government regulation of drugs. Since we were teens and young adults there have been many more studies on pot's effects and it is not positive.

Cannabis and Psychosis Through the Lens of DSM-5 - PMC (nih.gov)

Cannabis-Related Disorders and Toxic Effects | New England Journal of Medicine (nejm.org)

Marijuana use could lead to heart attack, heart failure, or stroke (medicalnewstoday.com)

Many Americans wrongly believe exposure to marijuana smoke is safer than tobacco, study finds | CNN

Association between cannabis use disorder and schizophrenia stronger in young males than in females | Psychological Medicine | Cambridge Core

Associations of cannabis use, use frequency, and cannabis use disorder with violent behavior among young adults in the United States - ScienceDirect

It is nowhere near as safe as the legalize crowd would lead you to believe. If it was a drug by another name like heroin or meth there would be no debate about it's classification. .But in many ways it's short and long term effects are similar.

It is even worse given that pot these days has been subject to THC enhancement making it much more potent .

My take on the French election is that Macron would rather usher in radical leftists into the government than give any room for a nationalist party.

Unlike unity governments that Charles DE Gaulle was able to build and manage ;French coalitions since have since been chaotic and unmanageable. Macron is a disaster . He has 3 years to go (unless he sparks WWIII and the world gets blown away before it) ;and that can't end soon enough .
