Is Big Sandwich a threat to our nation ?
Millions of Americans eat sandwiches . There is nothing secret about the concept of a sandwich . Put any combination of food between bread and viola ! you have a sandwich.

Roark Capital invests in and owns a bunch of brands that sell sandwiches to people who don't want to make them themselves. Among their holdings are Arby's ;Sonic; Jimmy Johns . Now they want to acquire Subway for $9.6 billion .

But the busybodies with too much time on their hands ;like Senator Warren (the blond haired ,blue eyed ,Boston Brahmin who is almost of native American ancestry ) ....and the FTC think this will create a sandwich monopoly.

Roark Capital to buy sandwich chain Subway for up to $9.55 billion | Reuters

Elizabeth Warren on X: "We don't need another private equity deal that could lead to higher food prices for consumers. The @FTC is right to investigate whether the purchase of @SUBWAY by the same firm that owns @jimmyjohns and @McAlistersDeli creates a sandwich shop monopoly. https://t.co/mAFuuFYA5A" / X (twitter.com)

Clueless Joe's FTC just happened to impose new quidelines on mergers right before the sale was announced .

And they and Warren have set their sights on the Subway sale.

Again what is a sandwich ? The busybodies want to make specific definitions above the simple one I suggested above .

The government has 3 definitions of sandwiches that can be found in the USDA 'Food Standards and Labeling Policy Book .

Did you know that a hot sandwich is different from a cold one ? Thank God we have the government to inform us !

SANDWICH - CLOSED: Product must contain at least 35 percent cooked meat and no more than 50 percent bread. Sandwiches are not amenable to inspection. If inspection is requested for this product, it may be granted under reimbursable Food Inspection Service. Typical “closed-faced” sandwiches consisting of two slices of bread or the top and bottom sections of a sliced bun that enclose meat or poultry, are not amenable to the Federal meat and poultry inspection laws. Therefore, they are not required to be inspected nor bear the marks of inspection when distributed in interstate commerce.

SANDWICH - OPEN: Must contain at least 50 percent cooked meat. Sandwiches are amenable only if they are open faced sandwiches. Product must show a true product name, e.g., “Sliced Roast Beef on Bread.” This regulatory policy in no way alters the Department's present policy with respect to caterers who include meat sandwiches in their dinners.

SANDWICHES (MEAT OR POULTRY AS COMPONENTS OF “DINNER PRODUCTS”): Dinners containing a sandwich type product, e.g., a frankfurter, hamburger, or sliced poultry meat with a bun, are amenable and subject to inspection.
Food Standards and Labeling Policy Book (usda.gov)

It really gets involved when trying to determine if a hot dog or a burrito is legally a sandwich . (a burrito is a “Sandwich-Like Product”

Anyway this just demonstrates how much control the government has on the lives of the people in the land of the free.

Just so Warren understands . The cost of a fast food sandwich has nothing to do with a lack of competition and industry consolidation . It is due to Bideninflation ;and the relentless efforts by do -gooder lefty pols to increase minimum wages into the $20+ /hr range .

Maybe she can save the industry by offering them one of her 'authentic' native American recipes from 'Pow Wow Chow' ?
