I laid out his case in at least 2 postings .

He wants the expansion of NATO to end . It has already crept right up to Russia's borders . He is not threatening NATO members .He made a red line with Georgia and Ukraine .

All of this could've been avoided if we had honored assurances we made to Gorbachev when the Soviet Union dissolved . the current standoff is DIRECTLY the result of our going back on our word .

Documents discovered in England and leaked to the German magazine Der Spiegel reveal that the West did indeed promise Russia in 1991 that NATO would not expand eastward .
The document was found in the UK National Archives by Joshua Shifrinson, a political science professor at Boston University

The 1991 protocol is in direct conflict with NATO’s 2008 commitment to Ukraine and Georgia that one day they, too, could become alliance members.

I agree. He's handling this very badly. It would be so easy to resolve the entire mess!

Putin who is rumored to be battling both stomach cancer and Parkinson's Disease made a rambling justification for his Ukraine moves . Given that it appears he sees this as a legacy move that he has little time to accomplish ;he is more dangerous than I first had thought.

Clueless should take a cue from Trump and pump lethal weapons systems into Ukraine as soon as possible . The West needs to decide on what it considers it's red line. Ukraine may not be it because despite the delusions of the West ; Ukraine is far from the democracy it envisions it to be.

"Putin knows that when I am president of the United States his days of tyranny and trying to intimidate the United States and those in Eastern Europe are over."

Clueless situation room . Note that all the name plates are turned so the press can know who is there . Strange
