How do I keep the posts( 8x6 stockade fence), from rotting out? Am in the process of replacing a couple. Hate to have to do this every couple of years. When I originally installed the fence, I used 2 bags of quickcrete, per post. (per Home improvement personel)The posts are the regular 8 ft. posts found out in front of HD.

Are you using treated posts?

Don't know. They came from Home Depot. I just bought some posts to replace the rotten posts, and They look like they are treated. (have that green tint to them) Sign also said "weather resistant". But they always say that.

Most post being used lately is metal, not wood. That eliminates any rotting in the future.
If you don't want to use metal then use concrete not cement to stabilize the post in the ground.

I just went to Lowe's, ( the other Home Depo) and saw a very interesting product. They had a product for posts, and fencing made from recycled materials, and it would not rot.

Before you put the new posts in the ground put them in a bucket of oil and fence treatment for a week or too that will make your posts last four years and years (Old farming trick) Make sure that the liquid comes above the ground level. (The oil should be the old engine oli)

Use packed stone to secure the wood post, not cement and your post will last longer

Yes I had the same problem, then my mate told me about a product call Postsaver timber posts. The part of the post that is in contact with the ground is covered with as thick plastic barrier, and this prevents the post from rotting away.I found their website, check it out, I am really pleased with mine, it definitely solves the problem
