Vanity water supply valves leak

In replacing the hot and cold water supply valves under the sink I have a slow leak. The end of the copper pipe has a ridge on it with a nut receptacle behind it where I am screwing the new valve into. I have used tape and grease with no luck. Any suggestions?
Installed new bathtub valve stems now "no cold water"

I have just replaced both hot and cold valve stems in bathtub. I did them exactly the same and now I can't get the cold water to come out. What can I try to do to fix this problem. Someone said I should have the valve open when installing? I am desperate and exhausted please help!! :(
