Ejector Pump Vent Pipe to Sump Pump Vent Pipe
I'm in the process of installing an ejector pump for a full basement bathroom. 3 ft away is a sump pump that has a 2in vent pipe. Can I tie in the new ejector pump vent pipe into the sump pump vent pipe. Thanks in advance.

Sump pumps do not usually have vents unless the sump pump services a laundry sink and the pump is enclosed in a closed off tank or something like that. Is that the case here? Further, a 2" vent pipe from a sump pump would be a HUGE vent, so it strikes me as odd and I have to ask exactly what the sump pump is connected to... what is discharging into the sump pump pit (tank)? It sounds like there is a condensate drain from a forced air furnace/cooling unit entering the sump pit and I'm pretty sure plumbing code would frown on connecting the ejector vent to the vent coming out of the sump pump tank. I also have to assume that the sump pit is a sump pump to deal with ground water... right? In this case, I do not know of any code that allows a sump pump pit vent to connect to an ejector pump pit vent... one is for ground water system (no sewer gasses) and the other is for raw sewage (odors, bacteria, etc). and the two systems simply do not mix! In my opinion, you have to ask the local plumbing inspector or at least a local plumber this question as each town, each state have different code requirements and no matter what we say here online we could be wrong and you could end up having to redo any work done, right?
