30 seconds On and Off cycle is not enough to heat up water inside the heater. Some on-going problem is shutting the heater down to prevent damage. That is why you don't have hot water in your house

Before you do anything, make sure you have enough gas going to the heater... Then...

    1. Check VENT to make sure it is not obstructed (all the way to the roof )
    2. Check water heater air intakes for being clean and unobstructed
    3. Replace Thermocoupling.
    4. If still not working - than it may be the gas safety valve built into the thermostatic valve. That one is expensive and when you add cost of installation, you may be better off getting new water heater

Let me know how you did

    Hi guys

Msf328...we answered your first post. Maybe you aren't sure how the site works? Check out Talaniman's videos at the first post, OR (as I stated in the first post)...

Call the manufacturer of the water heater and connect with the technical support guys. Give tech. support the model number and the serial number of the water heater and describe your problem... they will tell you what to do next.

If this heater is 15 year old or less it sounds like the air vents to the heater are clogged and the closed combustion chamber is starved for air. If the heater is older than 15 years then you should have an open combustion chamber water heater and there are number of different things that could cause the problem.

Call tech, support and get straight down to answers on the problem.

    Good luck!

    Mark
