My landlord always seems to want to pick on everything I do in the apartment. And last night I happened to put in the 2000 flushes tabs in the toilet.

He came over today with a plumber for some issues we were having and told me not to use them again because they create rust or something like that. Is that even true? Because I don't believe him at all

Mixed reviews on different web sites. Some say harmless, others it can damage parts in the back of toilets. You have metal waste pipes?

I don't know to be honest. But the landlord would rather not spend money on having someone fix something. He'd try to fix it himself.

Doesn't matter, he is the landlord. You didn't specify whether this is a house or apartment, or what issues that needed a plumber, or what issues you have between you, but be aware ANY problem that you contributed to, may cost YOU money.

More details might make for a clearer picture if you care to share them, but whether he is right or wrong don't let it cost YOU money. I just would like to know what he criticizes you for, and why as this seems to be part of a pattern as you say.

We don't have any problems at all with him. The toilet was loose when we moved in and kept moving side to side. (This is an apartment by the way sorry) and we told him and what he kept doing was putting 2 long pieces of what looks like wood to stabilize the toilet.
He has been trying to fix up the 1st fl apt but I guess it has been leaking to the downstairs bathroom and finally decided to get a plumber.

Hes just the kind of landlord who doesn't want any wholes on the walls but the walls are very poor they almost feel like chalk. The baseboards of the walls are not even touching the floor and are elevated about 3 inches off the floor so I can actually see what's behind the wall.

The floors are wood and he thinks they are going to be shiny for ever.

All these problems were there before we moved in but they have just been swept under the rug. But I have a 1 year old at home and her safety comes first. So when I have to complain I do.

Your landlord is correct in telling you not to use 2000 FLUSHES or any other cleaning tablet or disc inside a toilet tank. Any product that contains bleach (or detergents) that come into contact with the toilet tank FLAPPER actually voids all warranties from the manufacturer of the toilet tank... it is expressly stated in all warranty paper work for toilets for about 10-15 years now. Here, the bleach actually breaks the neoprene (or similar product) down over time and will soften or even shrink the flapper making replacement of the flapper necessary prematurely (i.e. can lead to water loss via the flapper X water X sewer cost and can get expensive quickly if it goes unnoticed for awhile).

If you want to use a bleaching product you can try FLUIDMASTER FLUSH AND SPARKLE cleaning system



This TOOL, if you will is installed into the toilet tank REFILL TUBE that gets inserted into the OVERFLOW TUBE of the toilet tank. This great mechanism doesn't allow bleach to touch the inner parts of the toilet and has refills that are easily replaced. This information should negate any argument by your landlord EXCEPT that he may simply not want you touching the plumbing in any way and if that is the case, you are best to follow his wishes.
