    General Kelly Surprises The World
    This is the guy the world thought would put a damper on Trump and prevent the madman from serious error like launching nukes. However, it turns out Kelly is a Trump clone.

    His lies about the black Florida congresswoman were made up out of whole cloth. When confronted with absolute foolproof EVIDENCE he was wrong, he doubled down on his lies. Pure TrumpSpeak.

    Then he did a bizarre bit about revisionist history re the American Civil War. His idiocy was totally unexpected. That leaves General Mattis as the last man standing.

    On the plus side of the ledger is the indictment of Trump's pal Manafort. Is this the end of the Trump disgrace? No, but it is the beginning of the end.

    The Manafort indictment final exposed the corruption of the Podesta Brothers . The stuff he was nailed about happened years before he temporarily served as Trump's campaign manager . There is some serious stuff in the charges about money laundering while both he and the Podesta's worked for the former President of Ukraine Yanukovych. The most I see here related to Trump is that Mueller will probably attempt to turn him by making a plea deal .

    General Kelly is right in that that Civil War became inevitable when people with irreconcilable positions could no longer compromise. But the ONLY cause of the war was slavery . btw most Confederate soldiers were not slave holders and did believe that they were fighting for their states .

    Yes and nazi soldiers believed they were fighting for Germany. I think the whole point of your civil war was self determination while the outcome was emancipation and your union was ill prepared for the consequences. Lincoln had a plan to deport former slaves but that didn't happen and you have had a mess ever since

    No self determination and every other secondary argument that was made in the turn of the century scholarship was 2nd fiddle to the real primary cause of the conflict ;which was slavery . It came to a head because the territories that were obtained in the Louisiana Purchase were ready to enter the union as states . The question about if they were going to be slave or free states was critical to the debate because the outcome of that was going to probably change the balance of power between free and slave states . The statesmen of the early 19th century painstakingly carved out compromises like the Missouri Compromise to keep the balance of power intact . But the black robed oligarchs in SCOTUS overturned the Missouri Compromise in the Dredd Scott decision. It decided that Congress had no power to prohibit slavery in the territories and that Freed Blacks were not entitled to the rights of a federal citizen. Compromise became virtually impossible after that ;especially when battles between pro and anti slavery settlers in Kansas happened ;and when John Brown tried to foment a slave rebellion. Positioned hardened and became irreconcilable . Lincoln's initial concern was the preservation of the union . That is where that proposal you speak of came from. Before the war reached the end of 1862 his position was totally emancipation .(it actually always was ;but he was trying to be a pragmatist .) Lincoln at the end had a position of reconciliation . One has to wonder how different things would've been if he had lived and was able to enact his own post war plan . As it turned out ,the North occupied the South . But as you know ,occupation and punishment rarely changes hearts . And occupation does not last forever . Modern scholarship argues that Northern Occupation (aka Reconstruction) planted the seeds for the Civil Rights movement 100 years later . But I just have to wonder how things would've been different if Lincoln could've enacted his policy of "With Malice toward none, with charity for all, with firmness in the right, as God gives us to see the right, let us strive on to finish the work we are in, to bind up the nation's wounds."

    People will do anything for the cheapest labor they can get whether it's right or wrong. What's disgusting is a former 4 star general justifying his bosses position. I suppose that's his JOB. It's no less disgusting however.

    You forget a four star general is used to taking orders and Trump is the commander in chief, it is a mindset

I was remarking this morning how intensely blue the sky is, despite the "fact" we are supposed to be one of the worst polluters on the planet, just shows you how perspective can be different the further you are from the centre, and truth is relative

    No matter our conflicts, I always try to be fair about it, and honestly have looked forward to our interactions in Current Events. We both like clear blue skies after all.

    Tal, we don't have conflicts just differing opinions. I felt very sad what happened over your way the other day, another loonie got a gun and went beserk, and once again no one is prepared to say guns are too easy to get, they will even be applauding the neighbour. We will have differing opinions on this too

    The Air Force has already admitted they dropped the ball and failed to report this homicidal lunatic to the proper data base that MIGHT have prevented him from buying his guns. I say might because a determined homicidal loony could have gotten guns and bullets from any damn where!

    As typical the DUFUS response was disgusting, and all I got for now is sympathy and condolences for the tragedy my fellow Texans are going through.

    Yes I don't understand why he can't use his Presidency to push change instead of coverup, I also heard a cop went berserk and shot up a church, must be in the water
