Joe, from Septic Savior (he didn't identify his company to start, I had to ask), called me Tuesday. I'd been getting the same number calling repeatedly (local area code as mentioned above) and disregarded, and Tuesday finally picked up to tell them to remove my name from the list.

However, Joe was rolling along and instead of just hanging up on him immediately, I listened to the whole deal. I certainly agree, he used the "fear factor" as he implied without this product to break down synthetic oils in toilet papers and detergents and antibacterial soaps (don't use)etc. my septic system would fail.

After many many attempts to interrupt Joe, I finally got him to listen to ME, and to eventually agree to call me back next week after I "discussed it with my husband". I see that he just called me again, and I researched online, found your help desk, (thank you so much), and decided to ignore his further calls. I will also be a bit more diligent about carefully disposing of bacon grease (I eat uncured, no added nitrate/nitrites bacon and actually use most of it to cook veggies/chicken/eggs in for health reasons) and other fatty liquids so less get in my septic tank/field.

Would love to know more about natural ways to boost my septic's ability to "digest fats". What is the purpose of adding "yeast tablets" to my system?

I have a regular old drainfield type system, not a "mound system" as will be required when I sell my Minnesota home someday.

Anyone who calls you cold, unsolicited has nothing you need or want... I always hand up on them... if you talk with them a good salesman might sway you into buying something you don't need.

The yeast is an age old way of keeping the good bacteria going the septic tank.

I've never heard of anyplace legally REQUIRING you to put in a different very expensive septic system before you sell the house if the old one is working.

I have septic. NO FOOD should be going down your drain, and that includes grease. Just save jars and pour fats into them and take them to the dump.
Put bones etc in bread bags and keep in the freezer til you go to the dump.

Compost non-animal leftovers. I don't really have a compost - I toss everything into my flower bed outside my door. The plants there are very, very happy.
A septic field/tank should last for 8 years or more (before pumping out) and additives are not needed.

A 'little' bleach is OK.
ONLY toilet paper in the toilet, as a product. That you use with the toilet - no tissues etc.

I was told no bleach at all with my septic system. I've used Rid-X monthly for 25 years. Also, I never put anything down my garbage disposal. So far, so good.

Do not flush down the toilet anything what doesn't belong there. Use TP that is designed for septic tanks. Yeast is an active bacteria. It helps to dissolve solids.

Yeast is active, but it's not a bacteria. Yeast is a type of fungus. I have no doubt, however, that it helps.
