    My Computer keeps rebooting
    Hello,

My name is cooljames--I hope to get some answers on a self inflected wound. I unchecked some of my exec start-up files because it took my computer (HP pavilion a446x with Window XP) so long to start up windows. So the joke is on me--the computer gets passed the BIOS start-up, but restarts when prompted for windows. Is there a way to bypass this so that I can re-enable the those exec files that I unchecked? Thanks in advance.

This can be ugly. If you can't get it into safe mode, unplug anything you don't need in your machine including the mouse, if that doesn't help there's not much else you can do but rebuild you machine. Before doing that you can back up data a couple of ways. The easiest is to take it to a local shop and let them do it for you( most mom and pop shops only charge a nominal fee for this). You can do what they would do for you by slaving your hard drive and putting it into another machine. You'll have to look up how to do that, it can be a fairly involved process if you've never done it before. The third way is to rebuild your registry, consult: How to recover from a corrupted registry that prevents Windows XP from starting. Doing this will let you boot your machine but none of your installed programs will work. It's just enough to let you back up files to a networked computer, or re-install your burning software and burn files to CDs. First try and get into safe mode, and undo what you did, but I've had experiences where that's not possible.
