My daughter is about to be 9 and her father has never been there for her! She cries constantly because after weeks and sometimes months I am able to contact him and he makes promises and then doesn't follow through. He wont keep a job so not only does he do what he can to avoid him I get no help what so ever. I could careless about the money anyways I work hard and I take care of her on my own but I am fed up with him being a jerk to her. I take her to his grandma at times and sometimes he shows up and he is so mean to her. There is one time he spanked my child 6 at the time with a belt for misspelling a word. Who does that? She is so messed up she doesn't understand why he doesn't want her and at the same time doesn't wanna go alone to see her sister because she is scared he will be mean to her! What can I do?

You can not revoke his rights, You can file to change any current custody agreement where he has no visits, and no rights to see child. This has nothing to do with child support with his not his rights but his obligation.

It sounds like he is not using his "rights" so you stop contacting him, and he appears to just disappear.

If you later remarry, and a new husband wants to adopt, you can request he sign over his rights to allow an adoption.

Can you explain a little more why she cries so much over him? Does she want him to love her (understandable, extra so when a parent is distant and mean).
Is it wise to send her to his grandmother's? Can her sister come visit you on a regular basis?
The number one concern for BOTH parents is the well being of the child.
It's not even clear why you want to revoke anything when he doesn't show any involvement anyway. And you want that legal involvement in case he ever does have money, even a one in a million lottery winning.

First, any question on law needs to include your general area as laws vary by area. However, it is VERY rare that a court will terminate parental rights. Generally, rights will only be terminated if the parents is a danger to the child or to clear the way for adoption.

So, I would forget about terminating his rights. What you can do is curtail visitation and make it supervised only, so he can never be alone with your daughter.

You refer to a sister? Is that a half sister that he has custody of? You have left out some details here.
