Hello,

I recently installed a new kitchen faucet, and added a sprayer (we didn't have one before). Now the faucet is acting really weird.

When we first turn it on it has almost normal pressure. Then a second later it drops down to almost nothing, and when we turn it off, a small trickle runs for a minute still.

When I use the sprayer we have full pressure. So we might only have a tiny stream coming out of the faucet, but if we spray the sprayer it is full pressure.

Also, if the faucet has good pressure, and we spray the sprayer, then the faucet will keep running a small trickle. Then when we release the sprayer the pressure from the faucet stays at the same small trickle as when the sprayer was on.

I have tried taking the "trap" (?) off the faucet (The part that unscrews and has a pressure reducer and a grate of some kind) and letting it run, but the pressure is the same.

Prior to installing the new faucet, and sprayer we had great pressure.

You have a problem with the diverter not doing its job. The diverter's a flap in the valve body that shuts off the flow to the spout after the sprayer's turned on. When you release the sprayer the flap opens up allowing the water to flow to the spout. The sprayer is pressurized up to the sprayer head every time the water's turned on. To tell you more we will need the name of your faucet and its age. Regards, tom

The only problem is that I have no idea what type of faucet I have. And I don't know where this diverter is, or how to fix it. I may just go and buy another faucet.
