Mansfield Toilet -put in new seal, but tank still empties only half way down
    Hi. My name is Elliot.

I have two Mansfield toilets, both of which only empty only half the water from the tank when flushed. That's not enough pressure to keep toilet from clogging. I properly replaced the flapper seal, but that didn't solve the problem. Could someone please suggest something else I can do? Thank you.

First tell us how full the tanks get compared to the overflow tune, where is that water level? Also, when you replaced the flapper did you use the exact same brand and type flapper?

It empties only 1/2 way because the flopper is designed the way, so it closes down quickly. Today, toilets have to flush anywhere from 0.98 gal to 1.6 gal per flush. Tank holds 3.5 gal of water. That's why every time you flush - you empty only portion of the tank.

If you want more water per flush, go to Home Depot and purchase old-fashioned flopper. It will stay in open position longer, allowing all water to exit the tank

    Hope that helps

Some flapper have a styrofoam float on the chain that you can adjust to make it stay open longer. You can make your own float if you can find a piece of styrofoam.

I replaced the flush valve seal on our Mansfield toilet, but when I turned the water back on it doesn't fill the tank. About 2 inches of water comes in from the bottom left side of that tall column but water does not come in through the hose that goes into the flush valve. What should I check...

Flushing a Mansfield Toilet [ 7 Answers ]

I have an elongated Mansfield toilet that was installed about 3 months ago. In order to have it flush properly I have to hold the handle down... otherwise the water just rises to the top of the bowl. Mansfield Toilet [ 2 Answers ]

My 32 year old condo has a Mansfield toilet, a brand I am not familiar with. There are no 'low flow' markings on the tank or bowl but based on the water flow it MUST be a 1.6g flush which does a very poor job. As many people say, it takes 2 flushes so where is the savings? Are the internals of...
