    Maximum Percentage for Child Support
What is the maximum percent of my gross pay they can take out for child support for 1 child or 2 children. I have 2 children and one is in college but turning 23 this summer. I tink it should be reduced at that point.

They do not collect child support for children over 18. And I believe there is a calculator online and it will tell you and estimate of what they will take, but again minor children.

Support over 18 can be required. It depends on either the laws or your/her state, or on the divorce arrangement. The amount varies too. It's all too complicated for here. Some states have tables online for minor children.

The maximum percentage is 50 % of gross pay for child support. The only time that it migt exceed that is if you are in arrears.

As far as paying for an adult child some states have push the age limit for child support to 21 or through college. Most of which as joy pointed out can be agreed upon. Otherwise most states in the U.S. stop at 18 AND graduated high school. Very few go to 21.

Mostly it depends on the state and the state of the child support. Child support is owed for life and can be collected upon death. If there are arrears then there is no limit as to how long it can be paid regaurdless of the age of the child / children.

The only state with a calculator online is California. All other states use a guideline of amounts to set child support. The calculator for California is called a dissomaster.
