    Husband wife disagreement over air-conditioning
My husband and I are about to divorce over the AC. He wants it full blast at 69 degrees, and I want it off! Having that cold air blowing on me all day and night is incredibly distracting and irritating and makes it so I can't think about the things I want to think about - I can't get anything done except the basic things, because I'm focused on staying warm all the time, and staying out of the wind tunnels blasting from various vents in our house. Is there something he could take, anything, that would make him less hot? He's 65 yrs. Old, 5'8", 180 lbs. Thank you.

It is extremely common for men to feel warmer than women.
They are supposed to compromise or work out separate spaces!
If he won't do household chores, then he needs to cool just one room for himself.
If you can't work this out together, pay for 2 sessions with a couples counselor. I'm being generous. Any more than 2 for something this easy, then the marriage is doomed.

Couples who can afford separate suites do so!

Stake out your woman cave and close the vents... that get's you through the cooling cycle and into the heating cycle. Or lock him in his man cave!

You would think a compromise is possible but from experience that's easier said than done so get a referee. Couples that cannot talk and listen need a referee at any age or stage in life. Especially when you are both stuck in the same house together with no relief from one another.

My now-retired husband has always been a human blast furnace. He finally turned off the ac just before Christmas. (We live in Illinois.) If the temp in the house is higher than 65, he sweats. I've learned to layer shirts and sweaters, and I use an electric blanket for year-round sleeping (nighttime bedroom temp is in the 50s).

So my advice to you is to layer and also stay busy/active as much as you can.

I am a woman, and I am the inferno in the house. It's easier to layer to keep warm than it is to go naked to keep cool.

He may want to visit his doctor to rule out any health issues that may be causing this.

I agree with Wondergirl. I have my Therm. set at 68 degrees mainly for economy. Since I am the only one in the house, I put on a jacket if I feel cool instead of putting the therm. up a couple degrees. When the wife was here, I had to deal with 76-78 degrees due to her health. Of course you could tell him you want him to run around the house in his shorts to keep cool.

Yes, diabetics have issues with heat for sure. I am one and can't stand heat, nor can some of my diabetic clients.

I agree, the cold person needs to just wear more layers of coats. It is common here in China, (we don't have heat systems in the winter) to wear coats and layers of clothes all winter. (inside)
