I just join a finance company which previously did not have any accounting books and they asked me to create a trial balance. All I have available is the banks statements. How should I proceed? From my understanding I should post all J.E from the bank statements and then watch all the closing balance of each account and show then in the trial balance. Am I correct?

Yes that is the essential procedure although it might be easier to invest in some simple accounting software, like quickbooks, and construct your cash book allocating the transactions, this software will give your trial balance and reports
