    Looking for the name of a movie, post 1980, that depicts life in a small village town
    Looking for the name of a movie, post 1980, that depicts life in a small village town where at the end of the movie a german parachutes into the village. Not a full-fledge war movie, but more of a character study that occurs during world war 2. Beautiful scenes of a peaceful english village with a pond or lake.

    I don't recall the German (though there's one in "Mrs. Miniver), but I'll offer this:

    Do you recall them "fishing" by tossing explosives in a pond? Also, the boys collect pieces of shrapnel and are wildly happy when their school is destroyed by bombs. For the latter, they thank Hitler!
