A Lien on Property By An Attorney
    Hello,

I have a question can anyone help me? I recently owe and association fee in the amount of $1027.55 and an Attorney that the association group highered sent me a letter saying I owed them $100.00 4 day after I paid the association fee in full, for the total amount of 1,027.55. I have paper work comfirming that fact. I then worte a letter to the attoriney stating that I paid this amount to the association 4 days prior so how do I owe you 100.00. The lawyer then turn around and sent another letter (not certified 30 days later) stating that I owe him 420.00 and a lien has been attached to my property. I am in Maryland and I need some clarification because I am ready to hire an attorney and take is Jerk:mad: to court! Any help please!

    Thanks

First, check with the county clerk and see if a lien has actually been placed on the property.

There is not enough info here to make a full determination. But if the Association had to resort to using an attorney to collect the fees, that attorney may be entitled to collect his fees from you. This should be written into the Association by-laws in case of non-payment.

If that's the case then you owe the money
