    Temporary Pallet Horse Structure
Hello, we have a small hobby farm with 3 Horses in the Ottawa (Canada) area. For budgetary reasons, we have decided to keep them here over the Winter instead of farming them out, as we have always done in past seasons.I have an idea for a Run In/Wind Break using some Large Pallets I just picked up.I want to keep this project as simple and as cheap as possible. We are surrounded by forest so we do have natural wind break built in.My initial sketch has me working with 15' x 11.5", and 3 sides. My questions;*What is the best way to bind, or connect the Pallets?*We get a good amount of snow here. If the front is 6 inches higher than the back and I used PVC Roof Panels (Tuflex), would that suffice as a pitch?*Can I simply strap the roof structure with 2x4's and attach the panels to them? I was thinking about 1-12' up the center to a 4x4 entry post with 6- 16' 2x4's running across from side to side.*With these dimensions, is another 4x4 post necessary inside the structure?Another option would be to use Pallet Roof Panels, or sheet with plywood, but again I am trying to keep costs down to a bare minimum. We are on rock here, so my depth in soil is as low as an inch. The Horses may be rubbing and inching this structure around. Thanks in advance!Mr. Stonewall

I am not sure if I am picturing your project correctly but a 6" pitch over 15' is not much of a pitch considering the snow load you will get.

Actually it'd be over 11.5'... but agreed, not much of a pitch. The back and front opening would run 15', while the sides 11.5'

I just checked on your weather during a normal winter, I'd increase the pitch to at least 6/12. This will let some snow slide off.
