    In Florida we have a 10-20-Life law that says if you commit a felony while carrying a gun, it's a minimum of 10 years with no parole. If the gun goes off it's 20 years. If someone is shot it's life in prison.

    Yes it can vary, here in China it would be life or death.
    In the US, the charge will also depend, were you a felon with a gun? Or just a citizen who was carrying a gun illegally ( like in a state where gun carry is illegal?)

    Also in America, was it a state or a federal charge.

    In most cases, in most states there is at least a 7 year prison sentence with a mim of 5 years to serve. But it can be up to 10 years.
