    Please use Answer below to clarify this whole situation. It isn't clear where you are, where she was, and where the property is. Also, are you keeping the house or selling it? If you and the house are in the US, there are state considerations as well as federal.

    There is no federal inheritance tax, so the only thing to worry about is whether your state has an inheritance tax. Tell us what state you reside in, and we can check that for you. Also, please clarify whether the property is located in the US, or is it in Switzerland?
