    Repairing an outdoot water spigot
My outdoor water spigot is leaking because the stem screw is stripped. I bought a donor spigot to use for parts. Right now my issue is the packing nut is just a hair to large to fit on my current housing. I have not been able to remove the handle screw on my old one to see if I can switch just the stem screw and reuse the old packing nut. Can I get a different packing nut? Or another spigot online with a smaller packing nut? The inside dimensions on my old packing nuts is about .989" and the one I bought is 1.019". Thanks for any help!

Why not just replace the whole spigot? 90% of outside spigots are screwed on to a male coupling. They are $10 at HD unless you have a frostproof unit.

I can try that. I can't see the pipe after it enters the house because of a sheetrock ceiling to know if it has a threaded connection. I do live in North Dakota so I would think they would use a frost proof spigot.

If you have a threaded bonnet outside, it is not a frost proof hose bib. You most likely have another shut off inside and you close that in the winter and drain the line by opening the outside bib.
