I was told that legal zoom was not acceptable in South Carolina. Also how credible is it in creating a last will and testament?

LegalZoom offers two services. One is to provide basic legal forms, the other is to provide legal services. To offer legal services in any state, one need to be admitted to the bar in that state. So, unless they have a member of the SC bar to perform services they can't provide them. That doesn't mean they can't provide blank legal forms.

As to creating a will, it depends on how complex your estate is. A simple estate should be fine with a fill in the blanks form.

You may, merely write your desires for your will on a plain sheet of people and do the required witnesses your state requires.

But... if you actually have very much in an estate, you will want it done by a local attorney in person. It is not very costly.

Legal Zoom is used to provide basic forms. As noted by Scott, these same forms are often found free on other web sites on the internet, or for purchase at places like Office Depo and other office supply stores.

If you wish to have them do the actual will, Legal Zoom has many lawyers working for them, so they should be licensed in every state, (that is one of the things they normally have) But then if they are merely filling in the blanks from info you give, not ask you questions and do feed back, they are just doing paralegal work at that point.

So how complex your needs are would make a large difference.
