    Post partum bleeding after sex
I had my son on may 9th, today is June 3rd so it hasn't even been a month yet. I started the mini pill 5 days ago and I had sex 2 days ago for the first time. I know your not supposed to before a certain time but I was bearly bleeding at all and it wasn't at all painfull. However, the morning after I started bleeding again. Bright red & semi-heavy. Now (still no pain) its pretty heavy and still bright red and some small clots.. I don't know if its normal or maybe my first period? I cant get into my doctor for a few days..

You should have abstained from sex for the full 6 weeks so that your cervix could heal and return to its pre-pregnancy state. Abstaining also prevents infection.

Most likely you irritated the cervix. Watch your bleeding. If you are soaking a pad (NOT A TAMPON) in an hour or less you need to seek immediate medical attention.

As well, and I didn't know this until our second child, your uterine lining is healing as it sustained an injury, being the birth of your child. The clots and bleeding in the internal 'scab' being shed. This happened with our first, we didn't know it at the time, and has happened with our second.

As j_9 said, if it is out of hand go to the ER quickly.

My doctor cant see me until next week. But I'm still bleeding & there's no pain at all.. so I'm assuming its just my first period? I thought it was to early for a period because its only been a little over 3 weeks. But I don't think there's anything wrong if thetes no pain..

Just because there s no pain doesn't mean you didn't inure your cervix or contract an infection. There is a reason you are advised not to have sex or use a tampon for at least 6 weeks after delivery.

Plus as she said, a serious danger of infection. Which is why the doctor warned you to wait. If the bleeding is heavy, you need to see a doctor.

My doctor told me 3 weeks was how long I was supposed to wait. She said the same thing after I had my daughter. I guess I should have worded the question differently, I don't in any way think there is an infection. Actually today it has started to slow down. I was just wondering if it had anything to do with the mini pill , or if that started a period. I don't know because I've never taken any types of birth control pills before. The only thing my doctor told me over the phone was that your firat post partum period can be really heavy and have clots. But she didn't say if it was possible to get one so early.

No, three week is way to soon. I can not believe any doctor would be so reckless. And I doubt this is a period, since it happened along with the sex act. Infections are not something you will "know" until they cause more trouble later.

But you seem to know all the answers, or do not want to listen to good answers.

Some doctors will say 6 weeks... as has been the norm for years as a precaution, some say around 4-6 weeks, some say when postpartum bleeding has stopped... which can vary, some will say there is no definitive time to wait. It really will depend on where you happen to live and who your care provider is.

Its not the norm, but a period can occur very early, and the mini pill can cause irregular bleeding, although it is more likely simply a continuation of postpartum bleeding, which can ebb and flow for several weeks, and/ or irritation due to the sex as was stated.

Its not uncommon to have extra dryness during postpartum, even more so if you happen to be breastfeeding. Irritation can be very common at first.

Thank you DoulaLC, That's what I was asking.
F_r Chuck I don't know why you're getting an attitude with me. I was simply stating what my doctor told me & was asking a question because I didn't know. I don't have an infection, I wasn't asking about an infection. I was asking If it had to do with the mini pill, if it was a period, or if it had just been from the sex. But I went in earlier this afternoon and she said that it was a period, the pill had caused it to be early, and there was nothing wrong. She said sex had just "stirred things up" as weird as that sounds. But thank you every one for your answers.
