    Any porch that is open to the weather should be below the level of the main house.
    I would enclose the porch with a 2' high wall, and glass/screen windows above. Easier than lowering the porch floor.
    Unless there is no roof over the porch.
    Then I would remove the porch and re-do it, 4 to 8" below the threshold.
